The Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) are a network of autonomous academic institutions across India established by the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI). These institutes aim to strengthen public health capacity in the country through education, training, research, and policy development.   


Establishment and History:


The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) was launched on March 28, 2006 with a vision to address limited institutional capacity in public health in India. In 2008, the first three IIPHs in Gandhinagar (Gujarat), Hyderabad (Telangana), and Delhi NCR, and Delhi NCR turned on.   Subsequently, two more IIPHs were established in Bhubaneswar (Odisha) in 2010 and Shillong (Meghalaya) in 2015.   The Indian Institute of Public Health, Gandhinagar (IIPHG) achieved the distinction of being the first Public Health University in India, providing this situation in 2015.

Eligibility Criteria for MPH

  • Bachelor's degree in any field with at least 50% from an accredited university in India or elsewhere. Applicants may come from a variety of fields, including the biological, veterinary, medical, and paramedical sciences; management; social work; engineering; law; commerce; accounting; and communication.


Note: Relevant professional background in the field of development and health will be beneficial.
